blog candy #2 - day 7 on layout challenge

First of all, I am having a cricut cartridge give away! The winner will have their choice of one of the following: Once Upon a Princess, Nursery Rhymes, Summer in Paris, Summer Vacation, Independence Day, Pumpkin Carving, October 31st, H20, Thanksgiving, Christmas Village, or Christmas Cards.

To qualify for a chance to win this give away you must do all of the following:
1. follow my blog
2. post a comment below telling me which cart you want and how you would use it in a layout using my layout below as a guide and inspiration.
3. Post something on your own blog linking back to my blog about this give away.
4. US continental addresses only (sorry! no International, APO's, Territories, Hawaii or Alaska)

And that's all there is too it! I will pull a winner from the Random.org drawing and announce the winner Saturday 9 PM CST. Good luck! :-)

Below is the layout. I did it a while ago. If I had to do it again I would definitely do it a little different; such as adhere the sentiments neatly on the side of the photos instead of scattered all over the page.Thank goodness for Un-du...right?

The printed paper used was from BoBunny. I chose it because I was looking for something with a white core. I cut several strips of paper to 3/8 of an inch and curled it like ribbon, placing it under the flowers. On the double dot paper I ran it through a label maker and punched out the various sentiments. Then I lightly sanded the top of the embossed letters so the white core came out.

This layout also involved tearing and distressing as you can see. I also sprayed white paper with Glimmer Mist, crumpled up, unfolded, and dried with a heat tool. Adhere behind the cardstock in the torn out windows. Be sure to distress the edges!

Next, I cut out the images on all photos so they would really pop against my Glimmer Mist background!

Enjoy!:

Again, good luck to all in this give away challenge.

Freda

  5. Oh, I forgot to mention how I'd use this cart on my LO using your LO as inspiration. In the center of my pages, on the diagonal, I'd put Halloween images and a title. I'd use the spiderwebs and spiders or pumpkins or signs....the possibilities are endless!

  6. JenE: I love that idea. Now I might have to do it ;-). I have Glimmer mist in several colors, including Halloween colors so this is doable! :-)

  7. I am a follower and i would love to win Once upon a princess. For inspiration i would take your lace papers and mat pictures of my 1 year old granddaughter dressed in her tutu. I would also use lots of flowers to embellish and I love your turned ribbon. I think that would be great to add to the layout. I would add lots of glitter to the cut outs and the flowers. I would also add some pink glimmer mist to make the pictures pop like you. I have posted about your blog on my facebook page. Thanks for the opportunity to win.

  8. I saw your giveaway on my friends Facebook page and have begun to follow your blog. So far its pretty cool!
I would LOVE the summer vacation cartridge so I could finish my mom's cruise album I started but have never finished. we went on a Mexican Riveria cruse and the palm trees and the cruise ship and luggage would go perfectly. I would also use the camping shapes to complete a couple unfinished layouts I started for our family camping trips.

  9. I am a follower, I would love the Once upon a princess cart so that I can print out different designs to use as wall decor for my fellow military wives that has little girls and use it as their birthday party themes. Thats how I would also use it in the layout of yours. Instead of blues, I'd use pink as the main colors. I've wanted to get this cart since I bought my cricut a yr ago. I do many things with my cricut expression for the other wives. They have not yet started scrapbooking but I intend to once a week have a craft night at my house where they can come relax and play.

  21. I have thought about how to use your pages as inspiration and I would have to say I would have my embellishments where your pictures are and the diagonal like would be where I put my photos. Now I can't tell you what I would put there as it depends on who's picture I have and what they were wearing or doing in it.
I am just coping my original post and adding it below so I only have one post on here to keep it fair for all.
Freda, I would love the Nursery Rhymes. With 9 Grandchildren (another reason I am always broke...LOL)I always can use those type images as one of them has a birthday or got an "A" on their little tests or sick. I am going to put something on my blog now.

When I go there this summer I would take tons of photos and then use the cartridge to scrap many memories. Thanks for the chance. Linda Dale
